My Top 15 Favorite Under The Radar Country Songs

I am pretty open minded when it comes to musical taste and I can name a favorite artist in almost every genre but my all time favorite and go to for every occasion is country music. In fact I think I have a country Spotify playlist for everything I could ever do that might need music to accompany it. One of my favorite things about Spotify is that I can listen to all kinds of new artists that people may not know about. In saying that, I have decided to put together a list of my top 15 favorite “under the radar” country songs that I love and you may not have heard!

These are not listed in any particular order because I don’t have a favorite and least favorite, just the way I arranged them!

1. 20-10 Tennesse // Tucker Beathard

I saw Tucker Beathard live last summer when he opened for Dierks Bentley in Atlanta, GA. I had heard his song “Rock On” on the radio and had liked it so I was interested in his other music. This song was the first he played and I thought it was really relevant to life in the south (all about football).

2. Stuck On 17 // Ryan Upchurch

Honestly I don’t really know where I heard this song but it has been on my general country list for a while and I love it so I was surprised when none of my friends knew it!

3. White Trash // Chris Janson

This is the only video I could find of this song and it unfortunately starts with a little bit of commentary but he does start singing (so bare with me). I love Chris Janson because he is a straight redneck and just doesn’t care what anyone thinks, and he actually sounds country.

4. She Got The Best Of Me // Luke Combs

Luke Combs is one my absolute favorite country artists, which is why you will see him featured twice on this post. He isn’t popular and I don’t know why, he sounds genuinely country and has good songs. Go figure.

5. Runaway Train // Cam

I think Cam has one of the best voices as far as women in current country go. I saw her at the same Dierks Bentley concert as Tucker Beathard and she put on the most amazing show. This was the song she ended with and it really got everyone revved up for Dierks Bentley.

6. Still Ridin’ Shotgun // Tyler Wood

This is just the sweetest song and Tyler Wood has the perfect voice for it. Just listen, you’ll see.

7. Southern Boy // Jordan Rager ft. Jason Aldean

If it has Jason Aldean in it, sign me up. I love this song because the lyrics are relevant and of course…Jason Aldean.

8. Fallin’ For You // Dierks Bentley

It honestly took all I had not to make this whole list just Dierks Bentley songs for a few reasons. First, he is my favorite artist of all time over all genres, second he is totally underrated and all of his songs should be number one hits. This album was my favorite of his to date because it has a folky feel and he covers multiple old country songs.

9. Dime Store Cowgirl // Kacey Musgraves

Every time this song comes on I just can’t help but sing. It is so catchy, cute, and completely relevant. “You can take me out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of me”.

10. Play Her Tonight // Riley Green

I first heard Riley Green when I was Auburn because he visits and plays frequently at the bars downtown. Since then, I have gone to hear him every chance I can.

11. Let The Moonshine // Luke Combs

Luke Combs again! Really though, he should be more popular. Plus, his music videos are just so fun.

12. Memphis // Liz Longley

I think I discovered this song on the “New Boots” playlist on Spotify. I had never heard of Liz Longley but now this is one of my favorite songs.

13. Blame It On Those Baby Blues // Aaron Watson

A friend of mine played this at a party we were at (you know you live in Alabama when…) and it reminded me so much of an 80’s style country song so I had to download it.

14. I’ll Be The Moon // Dierks Bentley ft. Maren Morris

Okay confession, I cried the first time I heard this song. I love Maren Morris’ voice (who I first heard at a Talladega race and fell in love) and she sounds so dang good with Dierks Bentley. Grab your tissues, just saying…

15. The Driver // Charles Kelley ft. Dierks Bentley & Eric Paslay

You know I had to sneak Dierks Bentley in here one more time…But on a serious note, Charles Kelley sounds so good solo and this song is super emotional.

Well, I hope you enjoyed finding some new music or listening to some you already know and love. I have put together a Spotify playlist of “unknown country music” called {Sweet Southern Sugar} under the radar country songs that you can follow and listen to here. You can also follow my other public country playlist by going to my profile. Thanks for reading! Until next time.

  1. Stop it! I love finding other bloggers that love Riley Green! He’s from my college town (Jacksonville, AL) but I’ve known him since his high school days and he’s such a funny, real-life awesome guy. How cool is it now that so many people know of him! & Dime Store Cowgirl-another one of my underrated favorites 🙂 You have great taste, sweet girl!

    1. He visited Auburn frequently while I was a student and I always made it a point to see him. I am actually currently typing this while wearing a fraternity Riley Green event philanthropy shirt! So cool you know him, I have met him once and he was such a nice guy! XO Kaitlyn
